Oh that infamous day in history. And we didn't even say the pledge today in school. The loudspeaker wasn't working...
So after that wonderful bit of irony that is oh so typical of BHS, we had a very normal Day 1. I did my chem homework in senior project, made a project out of straws of the different periodicity thingies in AP chem, got lectured at by Sheinfeld in humanities (I was on the verge of falling asleep... ugh), played ultimate in gym (I caught quite a few passes and got a couple points... it was great), and had my first test in APES. I was surprised because my APES test wasn't that hard. Or maybe I'm just so lost in what a hard test is nowadays (grr AP Bio...).
So then I came home, did homework, and had a concert with North Reading Community Band at an assisted living facility in Malden. It was a lot of fun. We played some great pieces such as "American Salute" (big bassoon solo... awesomeness), Holst's "First Suite in Eb" (which was so much better than when BHS Wind Ensemble played it), and a great jazzy arrangement of "Amazing Grace". We're always really well received at this place and it reminds me of how much music can change people's outlook. I felt great. Honestly, even if I don't make it as a professional musician, I want to join a community band and continue to play in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and in community concerts. It just gives you such a high...

Hat and I are soon going to run out of fingers...
So today was a completely typical Day 2: Psych was boring (I lost a point on an assignment for not bringing my book to class and actually going and getting it when almost no one had theirs and didn't lose a point... grr Boschetto), AP Chem was notetaking, orchestra was a snooze, and we ACTUALLY STARTED OUR MATH CLASS! It was crazy. And the lecture guy's voice cracks at times. It's so funny. So then I called my daddy who took me home. I ate lunch and promptly fell asleep. For about 4 hours. And then I chilled and practiced and started my APES project. It was good.
September 13:
So today I was completely screwed up. I told my mom I want to quit YPO (because I sort of do) because tour overlaps with our last gbyso concert and YPO tour is mandatory. And I'm not terribly excited about YPO. But she wouldn't let me and I had a middle-school-fit. It was rather pathetic actually. But my mom forced me to go to YPO anyways. It was okay, I guess, but I can see why Zander and Gunther Schuller get along. They're exactly alike. Both think that they're the greatest thing ever. Ugh, I was disgusted. But Mahler is starting to sound good. Already. I'm on 3/contra, which is okay, but I have a first part as well. So I'm still really confused about how I feel about the whole thing, but hopefully it'll all work out. My mom is insisting I keep with it until at least the first concert (partially because I signed up for it and partly because then it'll be on college apps... I know, I'm a bad person), but I may keep going. That is TBD.
So when I got home, I chilled and made a cake (dark chocolate cake with triple chocolate fudge frosting... I was in the mood). And then I went back to work at my APES project and talked to Soyeon. I love you Soyeon!
